Requirements
From ASSPSMTP
Hardware
Minimal requirements of a fully-matured Bayesian corpus, with all ASSP features enabled and configured to default settings:
- 1.5 GHz processor
- 512 MB memory
- 700 MB hard drive space
Network environment
Along with the ports used for e-mail, the following ports must be allowed outbound for DNS lookups to work properly:
- TCP port 80 (HTTP) needed for downloading and uploading griplist data. Proxy servers are supported.
- UDP port 53 (DNS) for A, MX, & PTR records as well as DNSBL queries
- TCP port 53 (DNS) for Sender Policy Framework (SPF) TXT record queries
Note: Although UDP is the typical protocol used for DNS queries, TCP will be used when the response data size exceeds 512 bytes. This requirement is specified in RFC 2671 (Extension Mechanisms for DNS (EDNS0)).
Software
Operating system
Most any operating system that is capable of running Perl can support running ASSP:
- BSD
- Linux (most distributions)
- Mac OS X
- Microsoft Windows (2000 or higher)
Installed
These software packages must be installed in order for ASSP to run properly
- Perl 5.8 **Perl 5.6 is not supported**
Other
- Patience - for the initial setup
- Caffeine - and when don't we need this?
- Bawls (because it's always good to have a set)
